The United Nations needs talented and dedicated staff to function effectively and efficiently in its global mission. UN System Employment Sites
At the beginning of May 2010 the UN unveiled a new employment site, UN Careers. Please visit UN Careers for general information about employment and vacancies within the UN Secretariat, including civilian peacekeeping staff.
Specialized agencies, funds and programs (i.e. UNESCO, UNICEF, WHO, etc.) conduct their own recruitment programs. Candidates should consult the appropriate agency’s website for information concerning employment opportunities.
Opportunities for Young Professionals and Students
The Center receives many inquiries about opportunities for students and young professionals. Internships are a great way to build a resume. Additional information about internships can be found here. The Young Professionals Program (YPP) is an annual exam for people under 32 years of age to enter the UN Secretariat. In addition to the YPP the specialized agencies, funds and programs have junior professional programs of their own. Known as junior, young or associate professional programs, eligibility varies depending on the program.
Fellowships and the United Nations Volunteers also provide opportunities to gain experience and become involved in the work of the UN.
