UN peacekeeping

The central mission of the United Nations is the maintenance of international peace and security. That is why nations created the UN in 1945 in the aftermath of World War II’s devastation. The UN works to prevent conflict, helping parties in conflict make peace, and deploying UN peacekeepers. It helps nations and people create the conditions to allow peace to take hold and flourish, undertaking activities that are most effective when they reinforce one another and are inclusive.
