Saturday, 25 September

 

At 9:00 a.m., in the General Assembly Hall, the General Debate of the General Assembly  continues.

 

The Global Citizen Live is bringing together artists, leaders, and Global Citizens from all over the world to defend the planet and defeat poverty. This 24-hour event is a part of the Global Citizen’s 2021 global campaign, a Recovery Plan for the World., which focuses on COVID-19, ending the hunger crisis, resuming learning for all, protecting the planet; and advancing equity for all. The event will feature performances from all over the world, including: Lagos, London, Los Angeles, New York City, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, Seoul, and Sydney. In New York, the Global Citizen live concert will take place at the Great Lawn, in Central Park, at 4:00 p.m. The Deputy Secretary-General is expected to deliver remarks.

Today is the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

 

Africa Climate Week, organized by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, begins today.

 

Monday,  27 September

 

Today is World Tourism Day.

 

At 8:00 a.m., the Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology is holding a virtual event entitled “Promoting Transparency to Counter Disinformation and Build Trust”. This event is co-organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), UNESCO, the World Health Organization, the Department of Global Communications and Global Pulse.

 

At 9:00 a.m., in the General Assembly Hall, the General Debate of the General Assembly  continues.

 

The Security Council is scheduled to hold an open debate on the Non proliferation of weapons of mass destruction: CTBT.

 

At 10:00 a.m., the UN Human Settlements Programme is organizing a virtual event entitled “Culture, Creativity and Urban Innovation”.

 

Also at 10:00 a.m., the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) is organizing a webinar on Sustainable Development Outlook 2021: From anguish to determination.

 

Tuesday,  28 September

 

Today is the International Day for Universal Access to Information.

 

At 9:00 a.m., the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA)is is organizing an  Open Webinar on the Sustainable Transport Commitments.

 

At 9:00 a.m., there will be a virtual high-level event on “Jobs and Social Protection for Poverty Eradication”, convened by the Secretary-General under the aegis of the Financing for Development in the Era of COVID-19 and Beyond Initiative.

 

This morning, the Security Council is scheduled to hold a briefing, followed by consultations, on the Middle East (Syria). This afternoon, the Security Council is scheduled to hold a briefing on Somalia.

 

At 10:00 a.m., in the General Assembly Hall, the General Assembly is holding a High-level plenary meeting to commemorate and promote the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.

 

At 10:00 a.m., the UN Office on Drugs and Crime is organizing a virtual high-level event entitled “Addressing the linkages between terrorism and organized crime in Africa

 

In Milan, Italy, the Pre-Cop event “YOUTH4CLIMATE: DRIVING AMBITION”, begins today.

 

Wednesday, 29 September

 

Today is the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste.

 

This morning, the Security Council is scheduled for a vote on Maintenance of international peace and security [2240]. The Council is also scheduled to hold a briefing, followed by consultations, on the Middle East.

 

Thursday,  30 September

Today is World Maritime Day. It Is also the International Translation Day.

 

At 8:00 a.m., the 8th Global Forum on Gender Statistics will begin. The Forum is organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and will conclude on 1 October.

 

Also at 8:00 a.m., the World Health Organization (WHO) is organizing an event entitled The Road to 2023: Kickoff to the high-level meeting on universal health coverage. This event will commemorate the two-year anniversary of the 2019 High-level Meeting on UHC, share lessons learned and pave the way for the 2023 HLM on UHC, including in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

At 9:00 a.m., the Food and Agriculture Organization is organizing a virtual event entitled “WSIS TalkX: Innovating against food loss and waste. An International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste”.

At 10:00 a.m., the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) is organizing an event on Sudan. The virtual Side Event on the margins of UNGA will provide an opportunity to take stock of the overall progress achieved thus far in the country, as well as reconfirm international support for the transition at a critical time.

Friday,  1 October

At 10:00 a.m., the UN Office on Drugs and Crime is organizing a virtual event entitled “Strategies to prevent and combat organized crime: Launching UNODC Toolkit and moving towards its implementation
