Monday, 07 March

 

This morning, the Security Council is scheduled to hold a briefing, followed by consultations on the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV.  This will be followed by a briefing by the Spokesperson for the President of the General Assembly.

In The Hague, at 10:00 a.m., the International Court of Justice is scheduled to hold a hearing on Allegations of Genocide under the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (Ukraine v. Russian Federation). This hearing will continue on 8 March.

 

Tuesday, 08 March

 

Today is International Women’s Day.

At 9:00 a.m., the Security Council is scheduled to hold an open debate on Women and peace and security: Economic inclusion through partnerships.

At 10:00 a.m., UN Women is organizing the United Nations Observance of International Women’s Day 2022, which will take place virtually. The Secretary-General is scheduled to address this meeting by pre-recorded video message.

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV.   This will be followed by a briefing by the Spokesperson for the President of the General Assembly.

 

Wednesday, 09 March

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV.   This will be followed by a briefing by the Spokesperson for the President of the General Assembly.

In Geneva, at 12:30 p.m., there will be a virtual press conference to launch the latest report of the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Syrian Arab Republic (OHCHR). The speakers will be  Paulo Pinheiro, Chair of the Commission, as well as Hanny Megally and Lynn Welchman, both Commissioners.

 

Thursday, 10 March

 

Today is the International Day of Women Judges.

This morning, the Security Council is scheduled to hold a briefing on the Middle East, followed by consultations on the Middle East (Syria).

At 10:00 a.m., in the General Assembly hall, the General Assembly will hold its fifth informal thematic consultation on Our Common Agenda on the theme “Enhancing international cooperation”. The Secretary-General is scheduled to deliver remarks. This meeting will continue at 3:00 p.m.

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV.   This will be followed by a briefing by the Spokesperson for the President of the General Assembly.

Today, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is expected to launch its World Trends in Freedom of Expression and Media Development: Global Report 2021/2022.

 

Friday, 11 March
