Monday, 04 April

Today is International Mine Awareness Day.

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV. The guests will discuss the International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action. The speakers will include UNMAS Acting Director Ilene Cohn; Special Envoy for universalization of the anti-personnel Mine Ban Convention, Lord Chamberlain of the Royal Hashemite Court, HRH Prince Mired from Jordan; the Permanent Representative of Colombia to the United Nations, Guillermo Fernández de Soto; the Deputy Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the UN, David Hauri;  Director of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, Hector Guerra; IED survivor/photographer Giles Duley.

At 1:00 p.m., in the press briefing room, there will be a hybrid press conference by Barbara Woodward, the Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the UN and President of the Security Council for the month of April. She will brief reporters on the programme of work for the month.

In Geneva, at 2 p.m., there will be a hybrid press conference by Abdallah Al Dardari, UNDP’s Resident Representative in Afghanistan, who will brief reporters on how to respond to Afghanistan crisis, support livelihoods and mitigate fragility, complementing humanitarian action on the ground.

At 11:00 a.m., the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change will hold a virtual press conference on the Working Group III report entitled Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change. The Secretary-General is scheduled to address this event by pre-recorded video message. The press conference will stream live on UN Web TV.

Tuesday, 05 April

This morning, the Security Council is scheduled to hold a briefing on Ukraine. The Secretary-General is expected to deliver remarks.

Wednesday, 06 April

At 9:30 am, there will be a virtual event to mark the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

At 11:00 a.m., the International Labour Organization (ILO) is organizing an event entitled What Gets Measured, Gets Done: Measuring the Efficacy of Human Trafficking Policies and Programmes.

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV.

Thursday, 07 April

Today is the International Day of Reflection on the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda and it is also World Health Day.

This morning, the Security Council is scheduled to hold a briefing, followed by on the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV.  The guest at the noon briefing will be David Gressly, the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen.

At 3:00 p.m., in the ECOSOC Chamber, the United Nations Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee and the 1267/1989/2253 ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee will hold a joint open briefing on “ISIL in Africa: nature of threat and responses”.

Friday, 08 April

At 10:00 a.m., in the General Assembly Hall, there will be an Informal meeting of the plenary to hear an interim oral update by Michelle Bachelet, High Commissioner for Human Rights, on the situation of human rights in the Syrian Arab Republic.

At noon, the Spokesperson for the Secretary-General will hold a press briefing, broadcast live on UN Web TV. The Guest at the noon briefing will be Boubaker Ben Belhassen, the Director of the FAO Trade and Markets Division. He will brief reporters on the Food price index.
